How much notice for orders do I need to give?
At least a month's notice for celebration cakes and cupcakes. Wedding cake orders should be placed at least 6 months in advance, but can be booked in up to 2 years in advance. However, I may be able to take orders with shorter notice, depending on availability. Edible prints require 2 days notice.
Do I pay a deposit?
Yes, for celebration cakes a £20 non-refundable deposit secures your order. The final amount is due for payment a week before the date of delivery or collection. Wedding cakes require £100 non-refundable deposit, with the final amount due for payment 3 weeks before the date of delivery or collection. Please note your order is not booked until a deposit has been paid.
Do you cater for allergies?
Gluten free, dairy free, egg free and nut free cakes are available. While the cake will be allergen friendly, a gluten free etc. environment cannot be guaranteed, as I work in a kitchen where these ingredients are used. Don't worry though, you won't be charged more for these orders!
What are your delivery charges?
It depends on the delivery address – let me know and I can work out the charge. Delivery means the cake arrives at your venue safe and sound, in the condition it leaves in. Collection is also available from 23 Henshaw Crescent, Yeadon, LS19 7TR, and the cake must be kept flat during transit, preferably on a non-slip mat in the car boot. Once the cake is collected, it is no longer the responsibility of HD Cakes. It is advisable to have wedding cakes, tiered cakes or larger sculpted cake delivered - saves you the stress on the day too!
How do I store my cake?
Your cake doesn't need to be kept in the fridge - in fact, the condensation can cause water damage to the fondant. They are best kept in a cool environment, safe from pets and children. After the cake has been cut, the remainder can be wrapped in cling film or placed in a plastic container, and stored in the fridge. It is best eaten within 2-3 days of cutting.
Can I bring my own cake in to be decorated by you?
Unfortunately not – however, cake toppers are available for you to add to your own cake – click here to find out more.
Can I cancel my order?
You can cancel your order up to 1 week before with celebration cakes, and 3 weeks with wedding cakes. However, the deposit paid is non-refundable.
Do you teach classes?
Yes! I am available to teach classes for hen parties, kids parties or any other occasion at your booked venue. More class options will be available in the near future - keep an eye out for more info coming soon!
